Packages.....Please help

I am trying to compile a document but its failing and giving an error
message that some of the packages I used like caption.sty and fancyhdr
are missing. I have tried to install them using the MikTeX Package
manager where I chose the option of installing them from the internet
but I get the message that "No connection could be made because the
target machine actively refused it." I have also downloaded these
packages from ctan and copied them into the folder C:\Program
Files\MiKTeX 2.5\tex\latex and choose the option Install packages from
directory, but I get the message "C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.5
\tex\latex does not seem to be a local package repository."Please
help, what should I do to get these packages up and running. Theses
submission is due very soon.

Hi Roy,

just refresh the filenamedatabase under MiKTeX settings...
(no need to install the packages again ;) )
...so that miktex can find your installed packages...

copy the files from the packages somewhere to ../MikTex
2.5/tex/latex/<package subdirectory> and run MikTeX Setting and refresh
the Filename Database using the button "Refresh FNDB" Update formats, too.

This should be all.
