Hi,
I would really appreciate if someone could tell me how to convert a
gif image to a eps image. Tried saving it as eps in photoshop but the
image apprears cut in the ps viewer and texnic center give the error
that it cannot determine the bounds of the image.

Thanks,
Apoorva.

Hi,

you can install a postscript printer in your computer, and print the example.gif in file example.ps.After You can convert with gsview the file example.ps to example.eps.

It's sometimes my solution to obtain file .eps.

A configuration of texniccenter is also possible to make this !

Hi Apoorva,

Here is another option:

1) Use any graphic file converter (e.g. irfanview) to convert foo.gif
to foo.jpg

2) Use the command line tool jpeg2ps
(http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/jpeg2ps.htm)
to convert the .jpg file to .eps:

jpeg2ps foo.gif > foo.eps

As irfanview can be also called from the command-line, you can write a
.bat file combining both steps...

My personal favorite method for making EPS documents is to print to PDF
via CutePDF (free: http://www.cutepdf.com/), open the PDF in Ghostview,
and finally use GV's "File | Convert..." feature using the "device"
called "epswrite". I do it all the time for Excel charts, in fact.

I downloaded gimp's windows version. Worked well for me. Prior to that I
wasted some significant time trying to do the same with Microsoft standard
settings, needless to say, it was a nightmare.
