Because there are only a few, less sophisticated places for LaTeX users
to meet at in the internet, the new site LaTeX-Community.org
<http://www.latex-community.org/> has been created at
http://www.latex-community.org/ <http://www.latex-community.org/>
This site runs a community platform providing a great base for public
and private discussion about everything related to LaTeX, including
the different TeX distributions, special LaTeX packages and the several
available LaTeX editors including TeXnicCenter.

Everyone is invited to read and search the discussions. Out of security
reasons, users who want to post to the forums need to register. The
registration process takes only a few seconds and does not cost
anything.

LaTeX-Community.org <http://www.latex-community.org/> is provided to
you for free by Sven Wiegand -- the founder of TeXnicCenter. The
community platform runs on a dedicated web server to provide excellent
performance. Server cost is (hopefully) financed by google advertisement
;-)

Go ahead and be the first one to post at LaTeX-Community.org!

Very Important notice for Users of this Mailing List:
LaTeX-Community.org <http://www.latex-community.org/> does also contain
a TeXnicCenter section spread up into several sub forums. Because this
new platform is much more sophisticated and provides a better
performance than this simple mailing list, the TeXnicCenter section of
LaTeX-Community.org <http://www.LaTeX-Community.org/> becomes the
official TeXnicCenter community with immediate effect and will replace
this mailing list in the near future.

All users of this mailing list are strongly encouraged to change to
LaTeX-Community.org <http://www.latex-community.org/> ! Registration
will take a few seconds only and is completely for free!

Dear Sven,

will there still be announcements of new developments/versions of
TeXnicCenter via email? The only good reason for me to get mails from
TXC-Users in the past was to be informed about TeXnicCenter news.
Frankly I think that usenet provides the most sophisticated places
for anything TeX-related by the newsgroups comp.text.tex and
de.comp.text.tex which I frequently visit. Anyway, thanks again for
your effords.

Greetings
Ruedi

Hi Ruedi,

TeXnicCenter via email?
at the moment there are two possibilities:

1. If you are only interested in TXC news it would be enought to
subscribe to TeXnicCenter-News mailing list at yahoo groups. This is
no discussion group -- only thing posted there are TeXnicCenter
announcements.

2. Register at LaTeX-Community.org and subscribe to the
TeXnicCenter-Announcement forum
(http://www.latex-community.org/viewforum.php?f=34): Future
announcements related to TXC will be posted there...

3. In the near future, TXC news will be available via RSS at the TXC
homepage. So if you already use a RSS news reader you will be able to
subscribe there. I will post an announcement in the two above
mentioned places when this feature is available.

I also often visit these two places, but fact is, that today many
users are not used to the newsgroups anymore. Reading yes, but most
are not posting there.

The advantage of LaTeX-Community.org, is that we have different forums
for different things. I.e. there are special forums for most of the
TeX distributions and TeX frontends. That way everyone only needs to
read what he/she is really interested in. Further on the community is
based on a software platform most users know so it is easy to use for
most of them.

Thanks for your question and hints.

Best Regards

Sven Wiegand
