Probably stupid question about auto completion

Hello,

I have recently installed TeXnicCenter and I can't get the auto
completion feature to suggest completions from the list of labels in the
document.

I used to have this working (in another machine) so I know it is
possible, but I can't find out how to activate it again. Any suggestions?

Kind Regards,

Juan

Hi Juan,

You type the beginning of what you want and then "Ctrl+Space".
Pay attention that you do not have to type "\begin{verb" if you want the
'verbatim environment', but only "verb". Otherwise you'll get twice
"\begin{\begin{verbatim..."

Alain

Hello Alain,

Thanks for the suggestion but this does not solve the problem I am
having. I was aware of how to trigger the completion mechanism in
TeXnicCenter, my problem is regarding the options I get in the list of
completions the program offers me in there. As you pointed out, the list
of auto-completion alternatives the program is offering me contains the
latex commands that contain the string I am typing. What I want is to
also get the labels I have defined in the document as alternatives for
auto-completion.

For example, if I have defined some floats in the document and assigned
the labels "fig:eq1" and "fig:eq2" to them. I want that when I later on
type "\ref{fig" and hit Ctrl+Space, I get a list of completion
alternatives including "fig:eq1" and "fig:eq2". As I said, I have got
this working before, but I don't remember how I did it. Any suggestions?

Regards,

Juan

I have just checked this, and label completion does work without my having to
do anything.

A thought: are you using a project or just a bare file? You won't obtain the
same functionality with a bare tex file as you obtain with the wrap around of a
project.

I now tend to use projects for all my work, including single-page documents.

Hello John,

Thanks for that. I was actually using a project file, so that was not the
problem. On the other hand, you telling me that you had this feature working
made me think that I might be using the wrong version (and I was). I don't
know where I got it from, but I was using an unstable version (greengrass).
I just downloaded the stable version (Stable version 1.0) and it is working
now.

Thank you very much again.

Cheers,

Juan
